You graduate high school; don’t get into any great schools. What do you do? Join the army! You sign up and report to the base; you go to a bed and throw down your bag. The camp commander walks in and yells “You damn new comers; I bet most of you haven’t even held a gun. Well, the next couple of weeks you will be able to shoot, run and kill not in that order, good night ladies.” With that he walks away, the next morning you run a mile before breakfast. Then you have to do fifty push-ups before you can yet while the sergeants are yelling “see those guys there nothing there your meat for the week they’re insignificant, they’re nobody.” The Sergeant is using Stereotypes to teach you how to kill. Stereotypes can help one learn how to kill.
War Stereotypes were around as early as the Revolutionary war. Basil one of the main characters in Give Me Liberty says “To kill a man I would have to think down upon him” (128). By using stereotypes even in the revolution they were needed. Also, Basil joins the army and hears “They’re nothing but lobsters we’ll be eaten after their dead.” By this he is being taught that the British soldiers are immoral, and have an easier time pulling the trigger to kill another man. The more stereotypes that are fed are easier the killing becomes. Also the killing of one’s self becomes easier.
In 1945, when the axis fell and America invaded the Japanese island of Capon, once the military had been killed and no prisoners were taken (they believed they should fight to the death) the civilians started jumping off cliffs to avoid being captured by the Americans. The already captured civilians realized the Americans weren’t going to rape or kill them so they started yelling to not jump. But, 10,000 lives were lost because of the stereotype that the Americans were going to hurt them. Also Nathanial, the other main character, in Give Me Liberty sees the General of the Red Coats jump off the fort while shooting himself. He thought that being captured might make the Americans torture him for information. What if there were no stereotypes?
No stereotypes would make it so the bloodthirsty would do the killing, the marines for example are the most fit Americans but if they can’t look down the sight of a MP44 (type of sniper rifle) and not pull the trigger ending the man’s life. America and the whole world would be a much better place, except for the terrorists that really want people to die will be able to run around and kill as they please. Now your service is almost done.
You decided to forgo college and stay in the military now you’re the sergeant giving orders on the military base. You can sleep at night knowing that you helped keep your freedom and everyone else’s. The night before the new recruits come you remember your first day, the commander saying “You damn new comers; I bet most of you haven’t even held a gun. Well, the next couple of weeks you will be able to shoot, run and kill not in that order, good night ladies.” With that you drift into a dreamless sleep.

Myth Verses Myth
Many of the mothers in the stories we read are the mothers are killed by their son like in “Osiris and Isis” when the god Seth is born he rips a whole in his mother’s side killing her. Another example is in “World on the Turtles Back” the left handed comes out of his mother’s armpit killing her, and also the right handed twin kills his grandmother. To conclude a common theme from the myths are having the mothers die. Another motif of mothers that they are followed by children like in “Osiris and Isis” is while Isis is looking for Osiris’ body she is followed by children who help her on her journey and in “World on the Turtles Back” the left handed follows his grandmother because she favors him over the right handed twin. Overall Mothers tend to be followed by children.
All the myths that we read explained how the world was made like in “How the world was Made” it told of how Maheo and how he made the world by first making a salt lake then the fish and aquatic creatures, then Maheo made the aerial creatures and finally came the light. With some help from the coot Maheo made the Land on which we live on. Also in “World on the Turtles Back” a women falls from the Sky World and some birds save her, and place her on a turtles back then she says she needs food so some fish dive for silt and all but the muskrat ends up with the silt so she can grow a garden. The garden ends up being the world and she gave birth and both the women and her daughter make rituals to keep the sun moving and the crops growing. The major thing all the story’s had in common was that they all told of how the earth was created.
Gilgamesh is a hero but not for slaying a dragon or even saving anyone, is a hero because he managed an impressive feat by vanquishing the wild man Enkidu. With conquering Enkidu came a new friend for Gilgamesh and also a new rival. The two friends went and executed a demon that guarded the great Cedar Forest and then went on to level the forest. Then the Goddess Ishtar sends a bull because she is being very inquisitive about Gilgamesh. The due kill the bull enraging the gods and kills Enkidu. But like every great hero he suffers a loss that is Enkidu. But he gets over this loss and starts his quest for immortality. With all of Gilgamesh’s feats he is a hero but still went through a metamorphosis. Then Gilgamesh returns to his abode to live with this lesson that is bitterness and rage will not take him anywhere and to live life to the fullest.

real life...... not so real DNA
What is the one sought after cure? Is it cancer? AIDS? Well now the world has a start to this by false DNA that actually grows. I think this is a good idea.
This is a good idea because we can find the cure for cancer, find the cure for many other infectious diseases and the incurable illnesses. This is also a good idea because now steam cells won't be needed and the world will be disease and will be healthy. Mankind will be able to peruse the ability to go into space. It will be harder to die of natural causes and every new born will be vaccinated from all these diseases and will have a more prosperous life. This is a great idea because we can give robots some intelligence, just enough to fight in wars but not enough to revolt and attack us. In the end this is one of the best advancements in the last year.

a rememberance and the wings (free write)
Ernie Harwell will be missed a long time friend of everyone and the voice of baseball he kept everything real and told the game how it is, he was that once in a lifetime guy that you may meet and he’ll take care of you. Ernie never gave up until he knew the cancer he had was terminal, so instead of all the invasive treatments he said no and took it. His foundation will live on in Southwest Detroit and all the city’s that support baseball. He started his career with announcing a minor league team in the Yankees system, then opportunity struck the Tigers announcer fell ill and Ernie became the only announcer to ever be traded for a player. Then he was announcer for years until 1991 when he was fired then brought back in 1996 and gave a heartwarming remembrance to Tiger stadium, his home for many moons. Also he was the only announcer ever inducted into the hall of fame. Ernie Harwell will love on in our hearts.
The Red Wings are making a run to the conference finals, though they are down 3-1 they still have a chance at winning the cup because they have a great team and after the skill that was shown last night was great. It all starts with Franzen getting a natural hat trick in the first period, second the spectacular goal tending displayed by Jimmy Howard shows that he (though in his rooky year) is ready to make a run at the cup. After playing seven in the first round they will have to play a game seven to even have a chance. I think the Sharks underestimated the Red Wings true power. The wings need to come out on top and go all the way to bring the cup back to the “D”. Well a common thing I notice is that when the Red Wings lose the Tigers win so maybe the Tigers can take one for Detroit and lose so superstition can win for the Wings.
The calls in the game really haven’t been going for the Wings until last night when there was over eighty penalty minutes and three fourths of that was directed toward the Sharks. I hope the calls go the same way from now on rather than giving the sharks two minutes to do whatever they want so they can score and the wings can’t argue.

SIMUN overview
I really liked SIMON I got to meet some other globies and got to express my opinion to the class. I didn’t like all the research because I never used any of it, I only needed it for to know who my allies were. Also it kept me busy the whole time and I really didn’t relate to the issues but I could debate and help the conflict move along. I wished it would go a full week but that would take too long, so I had to settle for a couple of days; I might go to MAMUN next year.
I did great I spoke on all the issues even if they didn’t affect me, and I asked difficult questions when people spoke. I found it much easier to spoke when there was a news flash that really included my country. I tried to get added to the speakers list as much as possible and speak on the behalf of my country and their allies. I got really dressed up and though my allies and my country won, lost and came to a agreement that every country is happy with. Though I was Israel I was one of the better speakers and was one of the better debaters.
Well every night I picked on my clothes also I did all the research that was requested but it didn’t help me at all, the practice ones we did in class really helped. The juniors that were my ally were extremely helpful; they gave me help when I needed it as well as helped me right my speech if I needed but by the end of the three days I was comfortable and felt good about what I was doing. I think that next year there should be some practice ones for the incoming freshmen, a couple of days would be fine so they are ready.
I will research all my allies better as well as were a blazer one day. Also I’m going to try to debate more during caucus and be more neutral and try to think of solutions that help everyone. Also I think that the research amount should be lowered by a substantial amount because I never used it and the grade was really harsh. I will answer the questions better next knowing now there about the scenarios and not just some random questions that have nothing to do with my country.

Israel’s stand
Well considering Israel is an ally with America I think Israel would be for this movement. If the Taliban get a hold of the nukes then there would be a world crisis. The Taliban wouldn’t stop until they have launched all of Pakistan’s nuclear weapons, then would flee in to see the world destroy its self. Israel would send help to Pakistan because they would feel threatened because they are a viable threat to launch a nuclear missile at Israel. On the worlds and my country behalf we will invade Pakistan along with the US. This is because we feel threatened that the Taliban are almost in power. Also we will try to recruit other countries to help the US’s and my cause. Also once balance is restored I think the UN should get the US to go in and get all the nukes so this will never happen again to where the Taliban have a chance to get their hands on nuclear weapons. If Pakistan never had nuclear weapons in the first place then this would never happen. I know countries could fight that I don’t deserve weapons but we don’t have any major terrorist organizations in Israel.
cultural differences
Give me Liberty, give me life, George Washington. A book that gives Brittan’s side on the revolutionary war, a different perspective on the revolutionary war. With time and cultural differences going amok like eating pigeon pie and claiming not winning the battle but a unjust loss. With the main character Nathanial Dunn who is an indebted to a school teacher, but being that his second owner had enlisted him the Lobster back army, so he must make a choice by either leaving the battle and joining the militia or be a spy. I honestly think something will happen to him before he switches army’s. Also I find that the British army would get up early to warm up and get some training in, Nathanial had to wake up and take the punishment of the soldiers but finds a friend in an indebted African slave. Also the British generals were so bull headed that they would kill all their troops just to get a win in the fight. Also that they worked with blacksmiths and German hessians who were the hired mercenaries of the revolution. While the drummer and flutist were always looked down upon, I noticed that Nathanial had it especially bad because he was indebted and had no owner that he could hide behind. Also I noticed while he worked at the blacksmith though the blacksmith was British he tended to be against working for redcoats so he made the iron weaker and took longer to do it so he could slow the British down giving the militia more time to train.
The other major cultural differences were that a white boy was sold because his dad forced him to come to America and he was indebted to pay for the voyage across the pond. Also I found that at most he could do to get out was escape during a time of retreat, which hasn’t happened yet, if Nathanial escapes he would be put to death.

there was...... pt1
The sheep ran through the valley of lost pets fearing it would join them. As it ran it reflected back on its life, thinking that surely it would wake up and be alive and well but. This wasn't the case; it would have ran, ran like the little lamb it was and dreamed to be. The sheep ran on; thinking.... no, reflecting on how it will escape.....
The lamb looked around-not seeing one soul living or dead, in the lush green atmosphere. His mom wondered off in search of a mate to make a brother or sister for him to play with.
The mother sheep ran through the lost valley of the souls not thinking or dreaming of the future but with one goal in mind it kept running. The goal was the best goal; the greatest goal, the fantastic goal of.......
The lamb shacked when it saw a saber toothed Gorilla. It ran for its life; like the little lamb its supposed to be. It jumped into the brush and took off just.....
The mom burst into the clearing to see a saber toothed gorilla running into the brush, then a squeal......
The mom ran into the woods to see.....
As the lamb ran the Gorilla squealed with delight it loved a great chase and planned to tire out the baby lamb....
The mama sheep took off and refused to stop but little did it know it was being stalked by...
The lambs legs were really tired but it knew that to be reunited with its mom it would just have to keep going......
There was a faint yet subtle roar the sheep used its ability to turn its self around and sprinted the other way.....
The lamb was so tired it hid in a hollow log....
The mama sheep saw the saber toothed gorilla chopping through a hollow log. It charged at full force but that wasn't enough; so the mama sheep reset and ran at full force the chimp just pushed the mama away then continued tearing at the log. The mama then proceeded to reunite with her baby-with a glance they took off mother and son. The trees grew a blur and it was just like a dream. Just as they reached mach one, everything froze life and air stood still as did time and space. To be continued.....

Free blog

The 2010 Olympic Games started last Friday and the USA is staged for another top medal count. Today starts one of the more interesting events, Skeleton. It is like Luge only they slide on their stomachs instead of on their back. Instead of going four times down the slope, these athletes only go twice to medal but it is way more extreme because they are at a higher risk of falling off. After the crash of Georgian man, Nodar Kumaritashvili, the Skeleton athletes were going to drop out because they go the fastest of all the Luge sports and also the least safe.
Today both men and women will go and both will give out medals. The US has five competitors, two women and three men. The US men’s aren’t favored to win but Noelle Pikus-Pace is favored to medal but is not a shoe in. While skeleton is relatively new, many athletes are willing to conquer the Whistler Center in Canada this is one of the greatest sports in the Olympics.
Another great sport is Ice Hockey. This is the Olympics summed up with hundreds of the greatest players worldwide. With some home town heroes like Pavel Datsyuk of Russia or Brian Rafalski of the USA both from the Red Wings and both playing for gold. Some of the other players on the other team I will never see again but they are still cool to watch hockey, though I don’t like everyone on the US team it’s still cool.
Moguls are another interesting sport it involves a series of small hills that the skier has to go over without separating the knees, then they go off a jump do a trick. Then more mogules and then a jump to end the challenge. Finally they are graded on how they do. Its interesting and fun to watch. The contestants are based on speed, how they keep there knees and the trick on the jump.
Overall the oynpics are the best time to see all the athlets.

True Story
It was the best of times and the worst of times commonly known as the start of ninth grade. Just falling asleep on the night before was a tremendous job, and the idea of going to school wasn’t good. Like every middle school year this year was looking to be longer and like a rollercoaster ride with the ups and the downs. And this wasn’t a high. It was a all time low. The first day was like when you miss the bus that feeling you get. The second I woke up I thought I got hit by a truck but that was soon to go away and be replaced with the butterflies and feeling of not knowing anyone. As my slow and tedious morning went by, got ready for school and left out the front door into the great beyond. I met my friends and the adventure started, just leaving the neighborhood could I see the locale marauding dog, lucky for us he was sleeping so we just crept by. As we were crossing the Six Mile Bridge the alligator snapped at me and it got my jeans so I got pulled in then my friend Jason jumped in and the alligator let go of me and together we scare it off. Once back on the bridge I made sure I had no injury so then we continued on our way. Once we were past the bridge we came upon the Six Mile Side Street and bear came running after us! So all three of us took off back across the bridge and into the ravine, lucky for us the Bear didn’t know about the ravine so we managed to hide until it gave up looking for us. We continued our trek to school, just as we came upon the bridge a car went speeding by followed by a few police cars. All three of us jumped back and kept on walking then there was the sound of screeching tires at the light. We took off running through the rest of the bridge and onto the hill to see the police chase had taken a turn for the worse right near the light. Lucky for us people were gawking and we slipped across the street. As we walked past one of the cop cars there was a guy in the backseat who looked like he had served time already. Just as we got onto school property I knew our adventure was over and a new one started, the first day of high school.

China rejects US claims at currency too low
Thesis: China should fight back after the arms deal.
After the United States arms deal to Taiwan the Chinese need to fight back to remain a world power. This rejection from the Chinese to the US doesn’t come left field because the Chinese need to remain a world power and the only way is to keep under valuing their currency. This is like the New York Mets getting a really good player and their cross town rival the Yankees suddenly making a huge deal. My point is any rival makes a move against you then you are going to push back. This rejection was in the best interest for the Chinese because they can say (subconsciously), the US pushed back so we can give it right back. Another thing is they say the US isn’t doing enough to get out of their slump.
China claims we (the US) aren’t doing enough to deal with our descending economy. Edward Wong of The New York Times says “…the Chinese economists were concerned that the American government, suffering from a record budget deficit, could print more dollars and issue more bonds, eroding the value of the dollar.” One thing to know is the Chinese own most of the bonds and could use that as a diplomatic solution and another thing is lowering the value of our dollar would make their goods pricey. All in all the Chinese have all rights to push back after the arms deal.
